What is an Australian ETA?
An Australia ETA is issued to visa-free nationals. It is not a visa in and of itself, nor is it a complete visa. It is a straightforward electronic Travel Authorization that informs the Australian government that you want to visit their country.
The ETA permits qualifying passport holders to visit Australia for tourist or business purposes. It also allows eligible non-citizens to travel as often as they like for up to one year (or the duration of the passport, whichever is shorter) and remain for up to three months for every visit.
ETAs are for short-term tourist or business visitor activities. They are not intended to facilitate repeated lengthy stays in Australia for other purposes. Work in Australia is similarly not authorized on an ETA.
Some ETA applicants may be required to furnish additional information. Therefore, you need to apply early as soon as possible.
