Perth Airport Guide: Terminals, City Transport and Nearby Hotels
Perth Airport (PER) serves Western Australia through two passenger terminal precincts: T1/T2 and T3/T4. Check your flight’s terminal before travelling. For central Perth, T1/T2 passengers can use Airport Central Station; T3/T4 passengers can connect to Redcliffe Station using Bus Route 292.
The Airport Central–Perth Station train ride takes approximately 18 minutes, excluding walking and waiting. Taxis, rideshare and pre-arranged transfers may suit travellers who want a direct journey to their accommodation.

Which Perth Airport terminal do you need?
T1 handles international and domestic services. T2 serves domestic flights. T3 handles international and domestic services, while T4 serves domestic operations. An airline may use more than one terminal, so its name alone may not tell you where to go.
Use your flight number and itinerary to confirm the terminal with your airline and consult Perth Airport’s terminal information and maps. Recheck before departure because terminal arrangements can change.

Transferring between T1/T2 and T3/T4
The two precincts are roughly a 10–15-minute drive apart under normal conditions. This is a driving estimate, not the total time needed to connect between flights.
The airport provides a free terminal transfer shuttle. Its published service pattern is approximately every 20 minutes from 06:00 to 22:00 and every 30 minutes overnight. Consult the current terminal-transfer timetable and follow signs for the pickup point.
Allow for the shuttle wait, traffic, any required baggage collection and recheck, and security or border procedures. Confirm baggage arrangements and connection requirements with your airline, particularly when travelling on separate bookings. Do not plan a connection around the drive time alone.

Getting from Perth Airport to the city
Train from T1/T2
Airport Central Station connects with T1/T2 via the Skybridge walkway. The train journey to Perth Station in the central business district takes approximately 18 minutes. Your complete journey also includes the walk to the station, waiting time and any onward connection.
Train and bus from T3/T4
T3/T4 passengers use Bus Route 292 to connect with Redcliffe Station on the Airport Line. Do not assume Redcliffe Station is inside the terminal buildings or that the 18-minute Airport Central journey represents the full T3/T4 trip.
Check service times, fares and disruptions for your travel date with Transperth. Perth Airport’s public transport guide explains the station and terminal connections.
Taxi, rideshare and private transfers
These options can suit families, groups and travellers with substantial luggage or accommodation away from a station. Follow signs for your terminal’s designated pickup area. For rideshare, use the meeting instructions in your app.
Before booking a private transfer, confirm the terminal, passenger and baggage capacity, waiting arrangements, and any charges for delays. Compare the total quote rather than assuming one option is always cheaper.

Choosing accommodation near Perth Airport
For an early flight, late arrival or overnight stop, compare accommodation by its travel time to your actual terminal precinct. A property described as “near Perth Airport” may still require a road transfer.
Before booking, confirm the property’s operating status, reception hours, and shuttle or transfer arrangements. Ask whether the service reaches T1/T2, T3/T4 or both, whether advance booking is required, and whether it runs at your flight time. Do not assume a complimentary or overnight shuttle is included.
Airport-area accommodation can be practical for a short stop. A city hotel may be more convenient for several days of sightseeing, restaurants and onward public transport. Compare the entire itinerary rather than distance from the airport alone.
International arrivals: what to expect
- Follow arrival signs and staff instructions for passport and border processing.
- Collect checked baggage when required for your itinerary.
- Complete customs and biosecurity procedures, including any required declarations.
- After clearance, follow signs for your onward flight, ground transport or meeting point.
Australia controls the entry of certain food, plant material and animal products. Read the official biosecurity guidance before packing and declare goods as required. Declaring an item does not guarantee that it can enter Australia; officers assess whether the relevant conditions are met.
Departures, pickup and road access
Follow your airline’s check-in and baggage-drop deadlines and allow time for security and any departure border procedures. Confirm your terminal before leaving your accommodation.
Perth Airport currently advises allowing at least 30 extra minutes for travel around T1/T2 during peak periods: 04:00–06:00 and 17:00–20:00, Monday to Thursday. Construction and congestion can affect cars, taxis, rideshare and buses. Check the latest airport traffic notice for your trip.
If someone is collecting you, share your terminal and flight number. Use the designated pickup area and check the airport’s pickup and parking guidance before entering a waiting area.

Facilities at Perth Airport
Free Wi-Fi is available across T1–T4. Facilities vary by terminal and by whether you are before or after security. Check the facilities directory for baggage storage, lounges and other services; lounge access depends on eligibility and opening hours.
