What is the Australia e-visa?
Australia offers an electronic visa system known as the Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) or the eVisitor visa. The ETA and eVisitor visas are similar and are available to citizens of eligible countries who wish to visit Australia for tourism, business, or to visit family and friends. These visas are electronically linked to your passport and allow you to enter and stay in Australia for a specified period.
The ETA is available to passport holders from certain countries, including Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and a range of European countries. The eVisitor visa, on the other hand, is specifically available to passport holders from the European Union (EU) and a few other European countries.
At Australia Immigration Services, these electronic Australian visas can be applied for online in a matter of minutes from any location in the world. The applicant is not required to go to an Australian embassy.
To apply for an ETA or eVisitor visa, Austrian citizens need to complete an online application form, provide the necessary personal details, and pay the associated visa fee. Once approved, the visa will be electronically linked to your passport, and you won't receive a physical visa label.
